SIGNING DAY PREVIEW: Cornerback Yusuf Corker

STATUS: Will sign Wednesday and enroll in June.

RESUME: Corker had 25 receptions for 551 yards and four touchdowns as a receiver for Woodland in 2016. Defensively he had 30 tackles, a tackle for loss, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. He also chipped in with two blocked punts on Woodland's special teams unit.

RECRUITING HISTORY: Corker is the cousin of former Kentucky running back Raymond Sanders but he didn't visit UK until late in the recruiting process when he took his official visit. He committed to Kentucky at a ceremony near his home, picking the Cats over the likes of Tennessee, South Carolina and Michigan State. Those schools all wanted Corker badly right up until the end and his commitment came as a surprise to some. Matt House was Corker's lead recruiter and he was relentless in building a relationship and keeping Kentucky in good shape. When Corker committed he said, at one point, that he was basically holding a spot for himself while he still intended to visit other schools. But he didn't take other visits and remained firm with UK.

SCOUTING REPORT: Corker is a big, physical cornerback who plays even bigger than he is. He's got a strong upper body which will help him to press receivers at the line of scrimmage. He breaks on the ball well and plays aggressively. He isn't afraid of one-on-one matchups on the outside. Corker should develop into a solid open-field tackler.

CATS ILLUSTRATED PROJECTION: Corker is one of the better football players committed to Kentucky in this class. He's not the same kind of player as Jordan Griffin, but there are some similarities in that they're big-time defensive backs from Georgia, and in both cases the Cats beat out some high profile programs as the competition.
