Running back commits to Kentucky

Kentucky landed its running back from the Class of 2018 on Sunday, the same day the football program hosts its annual preseason media day.

Three-star prospect Chris Rodriguez announced his commitment to Kentucky via Twitter.

The 6-foot, 200-pound running back from McDonough (Ga.) Ola had received offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State and others over the course of his recruitment.

Rodriguez unofficially visited Kentucky last weekend, as CatsIllustrated.com first reported.

Ranked the No. 93 prospect in Georgia, Rodriguez fills a big and long-standing need for Kentucky in the backfield from the '18 class.

Kentucky had offered more than a handful of backs from the 2018 class with the staff being very careful in terms of who they would have taken. One source told CatsIllustrated.com recently that UK needed to "get it right" because they only planned to take one running back in the 2018 class.

Stay tuned to CatsIllustrated.com for more coverage of Rodriguez's commitment and extensive coverage of UK's media days in the near future.
