FRANKFORT— UK football coach Mark Stoops and Louisville coach Bobby Petrino held a press conference at the Governor's Cup Luncheon on Tuesday. Here are the main takeaways from Stoops' portion.

-Alvonte Bell dismissed. The biggest news on the UK end was the dismissal of senior defensive end Alvonte Bell. Bell, who started four games for the Wildcats last season, collected 27 tackles for the Wildcats last season. Bell missed spring practice after suffering a knee injury in UK's bowl game against Georgia Tech.

-Drew Barker cleared for summer activity. Stoops confirmed that junior quarterback Drew Barker was cleared for summer activities. Barker missed most of last season with a back injury. He was limited in spring practice and didn't play in UK's spring game.

The quarterback position, like every other position, is open according to Stoops. Stoops told the crowd not to discount redshirt freshman Gunnar Hoak.

-All but a few freshmen are on campus. Stoops said the players arrived on campus yesterday and the first team meeting was this morning. However, a few freshmen didn't make it. Stoops didn't name them, but he said all but maybe two or three to make it this summer.

T.J. Walker reported this information from Frankfort. Derek Terry contributed to the story.
