field, TCP presents "Off The Wall With...," a Q&A just a little bit
off the beaten path.
Today's featured Cat is Artose Pinner, a senior running back from
Hopkinsville, Ky.
TCP: If you were stranded somewhere with only one CD, but it could consist
of any songs you wanted, what would be your top three?
AP: First would be Tupac Shakur, one of the best artists who ever
lived. Probably have to go with "All Eyez On Me." He had gone through a lot of
struggles in life, and in my short time here on this earth, I could relate to a
lot of what he was saying. Number two would be Biggie, "Ready To Die." Not that
I'm ready to die or anything. (Laughs) But the song talks about some good points
about life after death. It's real interesting to me. The third would be Jadakiss
with a little club music. If I'm going to be stranded somewhere, I need a little
pick-me-up, you know? I can't be serious all the time. I need to dance around a
little bit. I'd pick "Knock Yourself Out," something I can bob my head to.
TCP: What is your all-time most annoying song?
AP: That Cha-Cha Slide. What's it called? The Margarita (Macarena) or
whatever it's called. That's it. (Sighs) That's probably the most annoying thing
ever.
TCP: If you were a cartoon character, which one best exemplifies your
personality?
AP: Who's that dude with the wild haircut on Cartoon Network that
looks like Elvis? (Johnny Bravo?) Yeah, that's him. He's too cool and has
a way with the ladies. That's me. (Laughs)
TCP: If you could take a week's vacation anywhere in the world, where
would you go?
AP: I'd probably go to Jamaica or Puerto Rico, those white sand
beaches. I'd like to be riding a horse on the beach in that white sand, no cares
in the world.
TCP: What kind of qualities do you look for in someone you'd like to date.
AP: Direction. She's got to be focused and have some goals in her
life. Plus, she's got to be independent. And she's got to have a sense of humor.
If they don't, they don't mesh to well with me.
TCP: If you had a sister, which one of your teammates would you most like
her to marry?
AP: I've got two of them, and they ain't marrying none of these guys!
(Laughs) I'm around these guys long enough as it is. I know too much about them.
Alexis Bwenge is probably the closest. (The Canadian gentleman?) Exactly!
(Laughs)
TCP: If you were king for a day, what's the first thing you would do?
AP: Sleep in. With football, I'm up every day at six in the morning.
And then with two-a-days, it's pretty rough. So the first thing I'm doing is
giving myself some extra sleep. Once I had that, I could think of some really
big stuff to do.
TCP: If you could have taken part in any historical event, which one would
you choose?
AP: I can tell you which one I'd like to go back and do. It's not
really an historical event, I guess, but I'd like to play that Tennessee game
again. We had those guys beat bad. I'd go back and try to do some things better
there and make sure we won that game, see the goalposts come down.
TCP: Which one of your teammates would make the best star of a TV
"reality" show?
AP: That's easy. Ernest Simms. That boy's crazy. He's like a sitcom
every day. He walks around campus with a video camera interviewing people. He's
a character.
TCP: Your perfect meal consists of...
AP: That's an easy one. My side dishes would be yams, mashed potatoes
and macaroni and cheese. I always have to have three sides. My main course would
be steak and turkey. My mom likes to fix three sides and two types of meat, so
you get the best of both worlds. She loves to cook. I think that intimidates my
girlfriends, though. (Laughs) They think they're going to have to cook that much
for me someday.
TCP: If your TV had only one station and it played the same show all day
long, every day, what would it be?
AP: In Living Color. I'm someone who likes to laugh a lot, and that
was one of the most talented casts ever assembled with Jim Carey, the Wayans
brothers, Jamie Foxx and all those guys. I could watch that all day long.
TCP: What do you and some of the other players like to do in your spare
time?
AP: We had a big PlayStation football tournament during camp. It was
intense. (Laughs) I got knocked out in the first round playing with
Kentucky. I'm still No. 40 on there for some reason. (Pinner has worn No. 20 for
the last two years.) They wouldn't let anybody have someone like Nebraska or
Oklahoma. I wasn't very good at it because I'm used to the X-Box buttons. Plus,
a bunch of them were cheating, putting in all these audibles and substitutions.
I just played the way it was. Oh well. (So who won the tournament?) David
Johnson. He took Virginia Tech and dominated.
TCP: What's your favorite saying or quotation?
AP: Respect all, but fear none. That's the way I play.
