MASSIVE TRANSFER

CatsIllustrated.com has learned that Kentucky's football program has scored a major recruiting win.

Former four-star recruit and USC offensive tackle E.J. Price visited Kentucky on Monday and made his decision.

According to a source close to the Kentucky football program, Price has pledged to the Cats.

The source told CatsIllustrated.com that Price verbally committed to Kentucky while visiting on Monday.

The connections are numerous. Price knows four-star Kentucky quarterback commitment Jarren Williams well, as they're from the same area and were both coached by Todd Wofford.

Darin Hinshaw spearheaded Kentucky's pursuit of the elite prospect, largely because he has a personal and professional history that extends back to their time together coaching at Memphis.

AD AND BOSTON?

It figures to be an interesting season in Boston. The addition of Gordon Hayward fortified a t0p-seeded roster, while dismal seasons by the Nets (who will fork over their 2018 first-round pick) and Lakers (who owe Boston their ’18 pick if it falls between Nos. 2 and 5) will help the Celtics continue to build for the future. In addition, rival executives expect Boston to be keeping close tabs on New Orleans, which is entering a critical season. The Pelicans are committed to seeing if an Anthony Davis-DeMarcus Cousins frontcourt can work, but if the season goes awry, it’s widely believed the Celtics will make a strong run at Davis, who is under contract through 2020.

COACH SPEAK

Shortly after CatsIllustrated.com first reported that E.J. Price had committed to Kentucky we caught up with Price's high school coach.

He can offer the kind of perspective that can complement the glowing reviews Price has received from those who watched him in limited time at Southern Cal.

Todd Wofford is the coach at Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett, the school four-star Kentucky quarterback commitment Jarren Williams currently attends.

When Price was a junior he played for Central Gwinnett where Wofford coaches.

Can an entire War Room really be devoted to one football player?

Absolutely. When you're talking about a former elite recruit turned USC Trojan, and one of the Trojans' best line prospects in some time, then yes, a War Room is deserved.

ALL-CAMP TEAM

CatsIllustrated.com was on the ground in Lexington at every Kentucky camp event for high school football players and prospects this summer. We had the chance to scout a good number of Kentucky's commitments, some of the Cats' other top targets, and some players you'll be reading about for years to come.

Without further ado, here's our final list of top performers from all of Kentucky's camps during the summer of 2017.

OFFER ANALYSIS

On Sunday Kentucky finally extended an offer to 2018 five-star guard Darius Garland. The Nashville native has been recruited by UK for over six months, but there hadn't been an offer.

Garland becomes the eighth player in the class of 2018 to receive an offer from the Cats. He's the second or third point guard to receive an offer, depending on what you consider five-star target Quentin Grimes. Immanuel Quickley is the other point guard to receive an offer.

INSIDER NOTES

Cats Illustrated spent last week at the Nike EYBL Finals at Peach Jam and the adidas Gauntlet Finale, two events that featured a plethora of Kentucky targets.

UK's coaches watched a dozens of targets, some with offers and some that are hoping to receive an offer from Kentucky. Here's the latest with UK's recruiting efforts in 2018, a 2019 note, and package deal talks.

UPDATES ON COMMITS

DeAndre Square is one of the top players in Michigan and one of the top linebackers in the Midwest.

He committed to Kentucky back in June, having visited Kentucky for a second time.

Last week, he visited Lexington again, and this time with his father, who had never been to Lexington before. Where do things stand now?

Recruiting is over. Quintin Wilson put that in the rear view mirror when he committed to Kentucky. Getting the process over and done with is one of the perks of an early decision, at least for some prospects.

Even though recruiting is over, Wilson is making it a point to still visit Kentucky.

SIX FAVORITES

Four-star defensive end Daniel Parker released his list of six finalists early Sunday evening.

Kentucky's still in the mix for the 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive end from Blue Springs, Mo.

DID EGYPT HELP?

Back in the United States with a few days to think over their time with John Calipari at the FIBA U19 World Cup, the four high school players who made that trip to Egypt have all come to pretty much the same conclusion.

These past few weeks under the tutelage of Calipari gave them all a better understanding of the UK coach. And that appears to be a good thing for the Cats.

BEST EVER?

On the day of Kentucky’s football season opener with Xavier in 1948, a member of Adolph Rupp’s basketball squad found himself denied entry to Stoll Field.

It seems when pictures were taken for UK student IDs, Joe Hall had blown it off and instead gone home to Cynthiana to watch a high school football game.

Now, the UK sophomore was paying the piper.
