Chatter about De'Aaron Fox in Los Angeles, Malik Monk as the perfect fit in Philadelphia, a lot more football recruiting news, a football hype video, baseball honors ... just another CatsIllustrated.com Newsstand.
RULE CHANGES
"The NCAA will allow officials to use instant replay in the final two minutes of the second half or the final two minutes of overtime to see if a secondary defender was in or out of the restricted block/charge area.
Obviously if the player is in or on the arc in the paint, it will be a blocking foul. If the defender is outside of the restricted-area then it will be a player-control foul.
Going off that rule the SEC received approval for a request it had filed to the NCAA to use a separate headquarters to work with officials on the floor. Similar to the NFL, the SEC will use someone at a headquarters in a separate location to monitor all reviews during league games. ..." (read more)
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
"Edwards, a four-star, Rivals250 Oklahoma defensive back commitment, has remained on board with the Sooners, but that hasn't stopped Kentucky and other schools from continuing to recruit him. He was active at Kentucky's camp, participating from start to finish and never giving less than 100-percent, and he was getting plenty of attention from the UK coaching staff.
This week Edwards told CatsIllustrated.com that he "loved it" at Kentucky, and he acknowledged, "Yeah, they're recruiting me hard." He didn't go in-depth on his interest in Kentucky or other schools, but he did say that defensive backs coach Steven Clinkscale "knows what he's talking about."
FOX'S TURN
"The Lakers continued the business of draft preparation Tuesday, holding separate workouts for two of the players they are considering taking with their No. 2 pick in next week’s NBA draft.
The Lakers hosted a 75-minute morning workout with Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox, who tried to impress the Lakers with his conditioning and effort while alleviating concerns about his shooting. After having lunch with Fox, the Lakers then held an individual workout for Kansas guard/forward Josh Jackson less than a week after watching him train in Sacramento."

"Lonzo Ball to Los Angeles has dominated the speculation surrounding the Lakers and the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft, but there are a few other prospects who interest the Lakers. Mark Medina of the Southern California News Group discusses De’Aaron Fox and Josh Jackson after their recent workouts for the Lakers. Could either of those players jump ahead of Ball? You’ll hear from both players as well as Fox’s teammate at Kentucky, Isaac Humphries."

READY FOR ANYTHING
"On the surface, Malik Monk would seem to be a perfect fit for the Sixers.
The one-and-done Kentucky guard showed off a lethal shot and the ability to light up the scoreboard on any given night. That would be a perfect complement to franchise pieces Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.
There's something beyond his play that also seems to fit the city of Philadelphia: His attitude."

HIDDEN TALENTS
"Monk would hardly be the first Wildcat unable to show everything he could do under John Calipari. Since Cal came to Lexington, he has made bringing in all-star teams an annual tradition. In seven seasons, he has had 28 players drafted in the NBA, including 14 lottery picks, and he will likely have three more (Monk and fellow freshmen Fox and Bam Adebayo) taken this year. Most college players change their game to adjust to playing with more talent in the NBA. Cal’s players have the opposite problem. Eric Bledsoe went from being an average spot-up shooter in college to a star point guard in the NBA. Karl-Anthony Towns, one of the most versatile offensive big men in the league, played almost exclusively out of the low post at Kentucky. Two seasons after being a shooting specialist who came off the bench on a team that went 38–1, Devin Booker scored 70 points in an NBA game."
PIPELINE RECEIVER
"Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna has been kind to Kentucky recently, sending Joshua Ali and Chris Whittaker to Kentucky earlier this year.
Marvin Alexander and Davoan Hawkins both attend the school and they are committed to Kentucky from the 2018 class.
The school is also home to 2019 receiver Marlin Mayo, who camped at Kentucky over the weekend and landed an offer from the Cats."

EYEING A VISIT
"Blue Springs, Mo., defensive lineman Daniel Parker Jr. released his top 10 on May 22 and will visit at least three of those schools this summer, including two he has never seen previously.
“I plan on trying to get up to Kentucky, go back to Iowa State and get up to Minnesota this summer,” Parker said."

FOOT LOCKER VIDEO
"With Father's Day on Sunday, Foot Locker released a video featuring some of the players expected to go near the top of the 2017 NBA Draft, which will take place June 22nd.
The video features former-Cat De'Aaron Fox, Jayson Tatum (Duke), Jonathan Isaac (Florida State), but the star of the feature is former UCLA guard Lonzo Ball.
Ball's father, Lavar Ball, has been in the news for outlandish statements regarding his son and his son's NBA future."

BASEBALL HONORS
"Five players from UK were drafted on the second day of the MLB Draft. Riley Mahan was the highest selection of the day, going to the Miami Marlins with the 89th overall pick in the 3rd round. Logan Salow went in the 6th round at pick No. 171 by the Oakland Athletics."

FOOTBALL HYPE VIDEO
"The University of Kentucky released a Kentucky-Southern Miss hype video late on Wednesday, and it's sure to get you excited for college football if you're not already there.
The video clearly has recruits in mind, featuring moments against Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Louisville's Lamar Jackson, and one of Austin MacGinnis' game winners is also featured."
