Wildly productive receiver talks UK after offer

There are productive receivers and then there are bona fide stars.

At least at the high school level so far, Courtney Jackson has been in the latter category. There's no doubt about that.

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound receiver was one of the most productive wide receivers in the entire country last year. And now he has an offer from Kentucky.

Cats Illustrated spoke with the Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway receiver from the 2019 class shortly after he announced his offer from the Wildcats on social media.

"I spoke to Coach (Steven) Clinkscale (and) he said the whole offensive staff loved my film and he saw potential in playing defensive back in me, so he'd want me to get to camp and see what I can do," Jackson said.

Jackson, a two-way star, had almost 100 receptions for close to 2,000 yards and 27 touchdowns last year at Gateway. Various outlets listed him as one of the top players in Pennsylvania on the basis of that performance during the 2017 season.

He also has offers from Baylor, West Virginia and close to two dozen mid-major programs.

"I think Kentucky is a good school and they play in a really competitive conference and are looking to compete at a high level," Jackson concluded.

Clinkscale has been best known for his successful work recruiting in Michigan but he has also handled the program's western Pennsylvania recruiting duties since he arrival at Kentucky.
