Kentucky only signed one player in DeAndre Liggins, but they may have gotten the talent of three positions. The 6-foot-6 point guard had 10 points, six assists and 12 rebounds during Findlay Prep's visit to Louisville last February.
"DeAndre plays the 1, 2 and 3 for us, but he can rebound like a 4 or 5 man," Findlay coach Michael Peck said at the time. "Then he can dribble out from that and that's a huge luxury because he can then start our break and get some easy baskets in transition."
Liggins is eager to get started on his Kentucky career.
"I think I can help make them better," Liggins said. "With Ramel Bradley leaving, both of the seniors leaving, I think I could come in a make an immediate impact at the point.
"That's why I came to Kentucky," he added. "I knew I could make an immediate impact."
Liggins explained his own style of play.
"Shooting the ball, rebounding. Making my teammates better," Liggins said. "I can play three different positions, but I just want to play where I fit in."
Liggins is also eager to begin play under UK coach Billy Gillispie.
"He's a tough coach and that's what I need," Liggins said. "I'm a tough player and I need a tough coach."
