Harper carries a 4.2 grade point average and he has been told in the past that he will probably qualify for a full academic scholarship at the University of Kentucky.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound wide receiver from Louisville had football offers from Eastern Kentucky and Murray State. The Naval Academy, several Ivy League schools and Louisville had also been recruiting Harper.

Harper previously told Cats Illustrated that he wants to study forensic science in college.

He landed a preferred walk-on offer from Kentucky a couple of weeks ago and took his time sorting through his options. Harper visited Kentucky once unofficially before the season and then he attended the UK-EKU football game on Saturday.

When Kentucky presented that opportunity to Harper he told Cats Illustrated, "I was really excited because it's SEC football and they're from my home state. It's really big football down there. I was really excited and impressed by the facilities and everything like that. I took the academic tour before I went to look at everything on the football side and they offer a good education there. I'm getting some looks from Harvard so education's really important to me. I'm really excited about the school side and the sports side in college."
