Robert Jacques coached Quinton Bohanna at Cordova, Tenn., when the Kentucky player was in high school. He's known the big man since he was much smaller and younger, back in the eighth grade.
Whenever Bohanna returns to Cordova, Jacques said, he stops by the high school to say hello to the people he knows from back home.
"He was a surprise to y'all," Jacques says. "But not to me. We knew Quinton was going to ball out wherever he went."
Kentucky's coaches knew it, too.
Towards the end of Bohanna's recruitment, as a member of the Class of 2017, things really heated up. Ole Miss got more involved than ever before. Memphis had been actively recruiting Bohanna throughout his recruitment and was making a final push to convince him to stay close to home.
