Young gives UK third five-star commitment in a week

The 2013 Kentucky recruiting class grew from three to four on Thursday afternoon as the Wildcats received their third commitment from a five-star prospect in the last eight days.
Rochester Hills (Mich.) High School wing James Young verbally committed to Kentucky, choosing the Wildcats over Syracuse, Michigan State and Kansas during a televised announcement on ESPNU.

"I'll be attending Kentucky," Young said as he pulled a blue UK shirt out from underneath his chair.
"Kentucky has always been my dream school…. Once I went up there to visit I just fell in love with the place. It's a great atmosphere, great coaching, facilities, and history. I just love the school."
Ranked as the no. 8 prospect in the 2013 Rivals150, Young is the third Top 10 commitment for the Big Blue, joining twin guards Aaron Harrison and Andrew Harrison. Those three commitments set Kentucky up for what likely will become the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation in 2013.
All three of those commitments, plus the fourth member of the recruiting class, forward Derek Willis, are expected to attend Friday's season tip-off event, Big Blue Madness at Rupp Arena.
At 6-foot-6, Young projects as a player who could get minutes at either the shooting guard or small forward spot for the Wildcats in 2013-14. Also known as one of the nation's top scorers and long-range shooters, Young should be able to come right in and contribute at Kentucky.
The development of pro players under coach Calipari played only "a little bit of a role" in Young's recruitment. Young said that he was far more interested in, "Being there for the education and trying to get to the National Championship."
Young added at the end of the announcement that he has followed the Harrison twins careers as of late, and is excited to join them in the backcourt at Kentucky.
Cats Illustrated will have more on Young's commitment later this evening.
