UK softball team earns regional host

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The UK softball team earned the No. 14 overall seed in the 2017 NCAA Softball Championships and will host the Lexington Regional. Illinois, Marshall and Depaul are the other teams in UK's bracket.

The Wildcats play at 2:30 p.m. against Depaul on Friday afternoon. Illinois and Marshall play at noon Friday. The tournament is double-elimination.

It is the ninth consecutive year the Wildcats have made a regional. The Wildcats made the Women's College World Series in 2014. Last season, UK coach Rachel Lawson was named SEC Coach of the Year and the Wildcats hosted a regional, but lost in the regional final.
