THE BATS

Kentucky scored eight runs without collecting many hits. The Wildcats only had six hits. White and Rek delivered the power with the home runs, but the Wildcats benefited from patient at-bats. The offense drew six walks and only struck out five times.

Riley Mahan joined White with two hits on the night. White had four runs batted in, Reks had one while Mahan and Tyler Marshall both had one RBI. The other run was unearned as the Skyhawks made two errors in the eighth inning. Marshall reached first on an error by the UT Martin first baseman and later scored on an error by the second baseman.

ON THE MOUND

Thompson's main combination of pitches against UT Martin were his fastball and curveball. He used a nice mix of both to record eight strikeouts. Thompson sat at 97 pitches through six innings but pitching coach Jim Belanger let him start the 7th inning.

Thompson struck out the first batter in the inning and got the next hitter to ground out, but a two out walk ended his night. Righthander Chris Machamer walked a hitter but recorded a groundout to get out of the inning.

Colton Cleary sat down the Skyhawks in order in the 8th. Alec Maley recorded the first two outs of the 9th inning and lefthander Josh Smith finished the game off.
