Snell pleased with how official visit went

Westerville Central (Ohio) running back Benny Snell took his long-awaited official visit to Kentucky over the weekend along with many of his future teammates.
Snell was part of a large contingent of committed future Wildcats from Ohio and they were happy to be able to take their official visits together. Snell had visited Kentucky plenty of times before the weekend. So had his parents yet they accompanied him again, as the official visit experience is just as different for parents of players as it is for the players themselves.
"I had a really good time. I thought I got closer to the majority of the players and recruits that came down with me," Snell said. "My parents have been down a few times and they're pretty excited about how we're taken care of and how nice the people are there."
What was the highlight of the trip for Snell?
"I liked seeing the new facility that's getting built because that's a big thing that shows they're trying to put a lot into this program. Seeing all the construction, I know it's going to be big," Snell said.
Snell said he was with sophomore UK receiver Dorian Baker for much of the trip and "he's one of the guys (he) got close to."
"I felt it was nice being with him," Snell said. "My host was De'Niro (Laster). He's a guy that's all football and he works really hard. When I get down there I know for sure he's going to be one of the guys I'm close to."
There was plenty of time to interact with the coaching staff as well. Snell's recruiter is Vince Marrow but it was also a good chance to speak a lot with running backs coach Chad Scott, who has also known Snell for some time.
"He just gave us a lot to get ready for next year," Snell said. "He told me to finish strong in school and he was explaining how the guys are. Coach (Mark) Stoops said he's real excited for me to come down and he was real nice talking to me about how he wants to build this team into something better for next year."
The three-star Ohio running back, who is more of a power runner and workhorse than some of the other backs UK has recruited in recent years, said he doesn't feel there's any reason to explore other options with Signing Day just around the corner.
"I don't plan on (taking other visits)," he said. "I feel like right now I've made my decision and (Kentucky's) where I'm going."
Snell mentioned that he spent a lot of the weekend with Jordan Bonner, another Ohio resident but a junior college prospect who committed to Kentucky on Saturday while in Lexington.
"He went off for a second and then when he came back he was like, 'I committed.' I was so happy," Snell said. "We definitely acknowledged each other and we'll definitely be close. He's a real cool dude."
