Smith solid but working out details of his plans

Kobe Smith may be one of Kentucky's most important 2016 commitments. Good thing for Kentucky he's solid.
Smith has never been one to relish lengthy media interviews, but he does communicate the essentials of his recruitment and his plans with those that reach out to him.
The 6-foot-3, 315-pound defensive tackle from Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer flipped from NC State to Kentucky shortly after camping in Lexington over the summer. He saw a need at UK, he liked the coaches and their plan for the program, and he thought he fit in well at Kentucky in the SEC.
Miami continued to recruit Smith for a while, although he remained solid with Kentucky. And that's a moot point entirely now that Al Golden's done at "the U."
Not that it would have mattered.
Smith told Cats Illustrated this week that he's 100-percent solid with the Wildcats. He's part of a trend that's making last year look like an aberration. Cats Illustrated has touched base with 23 Kentucky commitments from the 2016-2018 classes in the last week. All 23 we've reached have confirmed they're solid with the Cats.
There's always the possibility of unanticipated drama as Signing Day draws near, but Smith indicated that the drama won't be related to him. He's solid with Kentucky, according to a message to Cats Illustrated.
Smith camped at Kentucky over the summer and showed well against both Kentucky commitments and targets alike. From that point forward the coaching staff put the full court press on Smith and was able to secure his commitment.
Better yet, Smith has been planning to enroll a semester early in Lexington.
According to Smith that still seems to be the plan. But he hasn't signed any financial aid paperwork and he indicated that the early enrollment situation is still in flux with some details that have to be ironed out.
"I still have to work things out," Smith said on Monday morning.
Smith was banged up at the start of the 2015 season, his senior campaign, but he bounced back in time for Southeast analyst Woody Wommack of Rivals.com to be thoroughly impressed with him in a game that featured Smith's Archer team.
