The 6-foot-8 quarterback now at Lexington (Ky.) Frederick Douglass is cultivating a relationship with the coaches at Kentucky in the hopes of earning an opportunity to play for the Wildcats or another Power Five program.

Yesterday the slimmed-down quarterback and athlete visited UK once again, this time for a practice.

While visiting UK on Thursday, Jones had an opportunity to sit in on a quarterback meeting with Darin Hinshaw and the current Wildcats at that position. He watched the team practice and was taken on a tour.

"It was great," Jones said. "They were going over different plays and concepts and what their reads were on those plays. We are running the same offense at Frederick Douglass so I was familiar with all the plays and concepts that they went over.

"It was really up tempo and they really got after it. It was really fun to watch and it just showed me what I have to look forward to if I keep working and make it D1. It was a practice I'd definitely love to be a part of every day."

The biggest development this week, as relates to Jones' standing with Kentucky, is his work to transform his physique. Jones had been 255 pounds.

"(Hinshaw) told me that I was looking good because I'm down to 245 right now in weight," he said. "He texted me after and said it was great to have me there. He told me he can tell how hard I've been working by how I've changed my body."
