SHUTTING IT DOWN: Receiver commit Akeem Hayes puts recruiting behind him

What's in a verbal commitment?

That depends on the player. There seem to be more decommitments now than any point in recent history. Just don't expect wide receiver Akeem Hayes to change his mind.

On Saturday afternoon the three-star wide receiver from Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna announced his commitment after the commitment, so to speak, which has almost become obligatory if a player is believed to be 100-percent solid.

So long as a player keeps one ear open to other schools, there's room for some concern. Hayes just won't be keeping an open ear anymore.

"I would like to thank all the coaches that kept recruiting me while I was committed to Kentucky but I've made my decision to shut down my recruitment," Hayes announced. "I'm 100% committed to the University of Kentucky #BBN18."

Hayes posted the message on his Twitter account.

Hayes was committed to Louisville before camping at Kentucky and subsequently flipping to the Wildcats.
