Sharpe shows well at camp, says he has three favorites

Three-star Georgia defensive end B.J. Sharpe spoke with Cats Illustrated following his Saturday camp at Kentucky.

The Macon (Ga.) Southwest prospect spoke with Cats Illustrated during the last week leading up to the camp. Then, shortly after the event, he spoke about how it went.

Sharpe competed in Kentucky's Big Man Camp with his family looking on when he was in Lexington on Saturday.

The 6-foot-3, 261-pound prospect was physically impressive and defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh made it a point to speak with Sharpe after the camp's conclusion.

Sharpe showed well at the 'King of the Camp' one-on-one competition.

"I feel like I did real well," Sharpe told Cats Illustrated. "I won all of (the reps). So that's always good."

How does Sharpe like Brumbaugh?

"I really like him," Sharpe said. "He's a coach who really breaks down what we need to do. He breaks down the techniques and shows us what we've got to do to get better."

Sharpe said he talks to Brumbaugh "a lot," and he noted that the Cats' defensive line coach would be his position coach and is also his lead recruiter. That kind of close relationship helps given the fact that the two would be working closely with one another.

Sharpe has offers from several schools, but three stand out.

"I like (Kentucky)," he said. "They're definitely in my top three. I like everything here. The school and the campus are great."

He said Kentucky, Mississippi State and Alabama are his three favorites, and Sharpe added that he's hoping to have a decision made by the end of the summer before the start of his senior season.
