Rosters announced for Derby Festival Classic

Rosters for the 2008 adidas Derby Festival Classic were announced on Friday with two Kentucky signees and three more Wildcat recruiting targets among the 23 players scheduled to play on Saturday, April 19, at Freedom Hall.
Kentucky will be represented by fall signees DeAndre Liggins and Darius Miller on the black squad. They'll be teamed with three players currently being pursued by the Cats: Oregon guard Paul McCoy, Maryland big man Maurice Sutton and Virginia big man Ater Majok.

Majok is a 6-foot-10 forward from the Heat Basketball Academy who has trimmed his list to UK, UConn, Kansas and Baylor. While in the area for the all-star game, he plans to make an official visit to Lexington.
The 6-10 Sutton is from Largo High School in Upper Marlboro, Md., and is said to be a UK lean at this time.
McCoy, meanwhile, is a relatively new name on the Cats' recruiting radar. The 6-foot point guard from Portland's Grant High School is considering a list of schools that includes UK, Virginia, SMU and Washington State. He originally signed with Pepperdine, but sought a release from his letter-of-intent after Waves coach Vance Walberg resigned this winter.
Those players will be featured alongside five McDonald's All-Americans and 11 players ranked in Rivals.com's Top 50 for the Class of 2008. Joining the UK signees and recruits on the Black squad will be: Larry Drew (North Carolina), Korie Lucious (Michigan State), Travis Releford (Kansas), Jerime Anderson (UCLA), Chris Singleton Florida State, Howard Thompkins (Georgia), and Tyler Zeller (North Carolina).
The Gold squad features a pair of Louisville signees, Jared Swopshire and Terrence Jennings, along with Dashan Harris (Texas A&M), Terrell Holloway (Indiana), Mike Rosario (Rutgers), Ray Shipman (Florida), Luke Babbitt (Nevada), Yancy Gates (Cincinnati), Emmanuel Negedu (Arizona), Jeff Withey (Arizona) and Kenny Kadji (Florida).
The players will participate in the DeVry University Night of the Future Stars on Friday at Bellarmine University. The event features a dunk contest, three-point shootout and 2-on-2 competition.
First held in 1973, the Derby Festival Classic is the second-oldest continuously-held high school all-star game in the nation. It has featured some notable players in the past, including Moses Malone, Isaiah Thomas, Jamal Mashburn, Rex Chapman, Pervis Ellison, Dominique Wilkins, Darrell Griffith, Derek Anderson, Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway, Darius Miles and Michael Beasley.
Tickets for the game are priced at $15 and $10 and are available at TicketMaster locations (www.ticketmaster.com), the Freedom Hall Ticket Office, or by phone at (502) 361-3100/(800) 487-1212.
