Report: Late signee says Aloha to Cats

Rich Brooks & Co. have apparently spanned the Pacific Ocean to add a player to their signing class.
Mililani (Hawaii) linebacker Mikhail Mabry has signed a letter-of-intent to play for Kentucky, according to a published report in the Honolulu Advertiser.

Mabry (6-2, 230) was the defensive player of the year in the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s Western Division. He helped lead the Trojans to a 9-3 record.
“He’s a very smart, instinctive player. He’s always around the football,” Mililani coach James Millwood told the Advertiser.
Mabry made a visit to Lexington for Kentucky’s junior day on March 7 and accepted the offer to grayshirt, according to the report. He will enroll at UK in January of 2005 and be available to participate in spring drills.
Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State and Stanford had also expressed interest in Mabry during the season. A severe hamstring injury late in the year scared off some programs, but Millwood said UK’s Ron McBride remained in contact.
