According to a report published in the The Kentucky Post today, the Wildcats have picked up a verbal commitment from Covington (Ky.) Holmes athlete Duran Jefferson.

Jefferson (6-1, 180, 4.5) is a two-sport athlete who also excels in basketball. He plays quarterback for Holmes, but projects as a wide receiver or defensive back at UK.
"He's just a great all-around athlete," Holmes coach David Trosper told CatsIllustrated.com earlier this year. "I think he's going to have some opportunities in both sports, talking about scholarships. He's a 6-1 kid with some outstanding quickness and vision.
"I think his vision is his best asset, and it helps him in football and basketball. Plus, he's got what I'd call 'game speed.' He's a legit 4.5 kid, but I think he plays even faster. He can really start and stop, cut and accelerate quickly."
As a sophomore, Jefferson caught 24 passes in six games as a wideout. Last season, he threw for approximately 1,100 yards while rushing for 700 and five scores. On defense, he had three interceptions. He was named honorable mention all-state and selected to the All-Northern Kentucky Team.
Holmes was recruited by UK assistant coach Ron Caragher. He joins fellow Kentuckian Billy Joe Murphy, an offensive lineman from Monroe County, Indiana defensive lineman Jeff Boyd and Georgia defensive lineman Shane McCord on the Cats' early commitment board.
