Ohio commits invited to all-star game

There are more postseason high school All-American and all-star games than ever before and two Kentucky commitments from the Class of 2018 were recently honored with invitations to one of the newer games.

Lima, Ohio tight end Keaton Upshaw and West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West defensive lineman Tyler Bentley announced on Twitter this week that they have been invited to compete in the NoKaOi Senior Bowl, which takes place in Honolulu, Hawaii in early July. The event, preparation and associated festivities stretch from July 3-10 so it's not clear whether that would conflict with their expected summer arrivals in Lexington. Neither player will be an early enrollee.

Three new offers go out

Kentucky's football staff has extended two new offers over the last 24 hours.

The Wildcats offered Class of 2020 running back Jaylan Knighton from Deerfield Beach, Fla., a school that sent a large bus tour of players to Lexington over the summer. Kentucky also offered Class of 2019 defensive lineman Jalar Holley of Buford, Ga., recently. Another offer was extended to 2019 running back Keyshawn King of Orange Park (Fla.) Oakleaf shortly after those.

In-season is typically not when most offers go out, and it's not surprising that these are going to underclassmen from areas where Kentucky traditionally recruits.

Ohio State offers Jarren Williams

Earlier on Thursday, Cats Illustrated confirmed a report that Ohio State has offered four-star Kentucky quarterback commitment Jarren Williams.

Ohio State has had a commitment from heralded quarterback Emory Jones, but he's had long-standing mutual interest with Alabama.

Early enrollment notes

Williams is still planning to enroll at Kentucky early at the end of his high school semester before the spring semester in Lexington. He will not be alone in enrolling early. This week Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech linebacker DeAndre Square told Cats Illustrated he is still planning to enroll early at Kentucky.

JUCO defensive back Domonique Williams will arrive in January as well, according to his former trainer Chris Treece. And a source says four-star Kentucky cornerback commitment Stanley Garner could very well arrive for that early semester, too.
