It was a huge weekend for football recruiting in Lexington, and this coming weekend promises to be pretty big, too.
Junior college defensive lineman Brandon Henderson will take his official visit to Kentucky this weekend.
"I'll be at Kentucky this weekend -- (December) 9th," Henderson told Cats Illustrated early this week.
The 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive lineman from Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga., said he has been in contact with Jimmy Brumbaugh and the Kentucky coaching staff since fall camp, before the start of the 2016 season.
"Coach Brumbaugh has said he likes a lot of stuff about my game. They've got both their defensive ends leaving (soon) and he likes the way I play," Henderson said.
Henderson has been researching Kentucky -- the university and the football program -- for these past several months since he has been hearing from Brumbaugh.
"I've definitely looked into them and like them a lot. That's the first real SEC school that's been really interested in me and shown me love," he said. "It's probably the main school recruiting me."
Henderson said Kansas, West Virginia, Bowling Green, Western Kentucky and East Carolina are the main schools that have been recruiting him, other than Kentucky. The Cats have not offered, but if they do Henderson admits it would be a very tempting opportunity.
"(Committing) would be a possibility," he said. "I don't want to lie. Just keeping it real, I think it's a possibility."
When Henderson was in high school he was only recruited by one very small college.
He had also spent time at Northeast Mississippi C.C., but was cut from the team there.
"We're on a quarter system so I'm going to be graduating in March," Henderson said. "I'm going to be a two-for-two (two years, two seasons) guy because this is my second junior college and I basically wasted a year up there (at ASA)."
Henderson said he doesn't think 2016 was his 'best season ever' but he did say that he believes he ranked in the Top 10 nationally, among junior college players, in the tackles for loss category.
