Jordan Griffin

6-foot-1, 173-pounds

Jonesboro, Ga.

Ranking: Four-star (5.8), No. 191 nationally, No. 15 cornerback, No. 15 player overall in Georgia.

Recruiting Rewind

Griffin committed to Kentucky in Oct. 2014. It happened to be the same night the Wildcats beat South Carolina 45-38 in Commonwealth Stadium. Griffin was on an unofficial visit and has stayed committed ever since.

He’s always been rumored to be a guy who could flip because of the attention he garnered from some of the elite schools in the SEC. He took an official visit to Auburn on Jan. 22 but reaffirmed his commitment to Kentucky afterward. Griffin has taken several unofficial visits to Kentucky over the last year and a half. He chose the Wildcats over Auburn, Clemson and Stanford among others.

Scout Speak

Griffin has seen his stock soar almost as much as anyone in the 2016 class. He’s risen to the No. 191 player in the country and finished as Kentucky’s second highest rated commit in the class. Griffin is a polished cornerback who is still filling out his frame, but he has great size and good speed.

Setting the Bar

Expect Griffin to strongly contend for a role in the secondary as a freshman. Kentucky needs more depth at cornerback and Griffin’s polished skills in the defensive backfield probably gives him the best shot at contributing to next year’s team. Griffin has the chance to be an elite cornerback in college and therefore is one of the most important components to the 2016 recruiting class.
