NEW OFFER: No. 1 player in 2019 receives UK offer

After meeting with Vernon Carey on Wednesday Kentucky head coach John Calipari offered the No. 1 player in the class of 2019.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native already holds several offers from some of the top programs in the country, but now he can add UK to his list.

The 6-foot-10, 230-pound power forward likely won't be in a rush to make a decision, but you can bet on UK making him a priority. Kentucky has been on a tear offering 2019 targets. Carey is the fifth player to receive an offer in his class.

Carey plays high school basketball for University High School. He planted his AAU stakes in the Nike EYBL playing for Nike Team Florida, where he averaged 17 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.

Carey already has a college ready body, and a nice offensive skill set that matches his aggressive defensive style. It's unclear what UK's roster will look like for the 2019-2020 season, but Calipari always likes to add talented bigs with solid shot blocking abilities like Carey.

Kentucky has now offered James Wiseman (No.2), Bryan Antoine (No. 7), Scottie Lewis (No. 8) and D.J. Jefferies (No. 37) along with Carey (No. 1). Carey likely won't be the last 2019 to receive an offer from the Cats over this open period stretch.
