New football recruit targeted in Ohio

Kentucky extended an offer to Class of 2018 linebacker Malik Vann on Thursday.

Vince Marrow will be working his connections to the Buckeye State in the hopes of making Vann a Wildcat.

Kentucky hasn't landed a player from Fairfield, Ohio, since Mark Stoops took over as head coach. But now Marrow is hoping to change that.

Cincinnati, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia have all offered Vann as well.

Vann is listed as a defensive end but could also be a linebacker at the college level.

With more than half of the spots available to Class of 2017 players already taken on Kentucky's commitment list, the Wildcat coaching staff may be able to devote more time to recruiting 2018 players.

One Class of 2018 player from Ohio, defensive end Alex Reigelsperger of Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne, has already gone on record with Cats Illustrated calling Kentucky his favorite.

Vann announced the offer from Kentucky on his Twitter account.

As the picture in the tweet above indicates, Vann has visited Kentucky in the recent past.
