Mossakowski shines in opener

So far, so good for Kentucky's quarterbacks of the future.
Ryan Mossakowski, the four-star Frisco (Texas) Centennial signal caller who committed to the Wildcats earlier this month, opened his senior season with a huge performance Friday night in a 71-20 victory. He completed 24 of 33 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns in only slightly more than one half of playing time against Denton High School.

Mossakowski, who chose UK over Alabama and Texas A&M, connected on touchdown passes of 46, 30, 10 and 10 yards. He started the game by connecting on his first 12 attempts.
Last week, UK's other quarterback commitment for 2009, Carmel (Ind.) standout Morgan Newton, tallied 293 total yards and accounted for all four touchdowns in a 28-21 victory in a nationally-televised game on ESPN.
Mossakowski is rated the No. 9 pro-style quarterback in the country by Rivals.com. Newton is considered the No. 18 player at that position.
