Marrow offers Asamoah and gives him a homework assignment

Vince Marrow worked overtime in Ohio on Wednesday, offering a host of players he's had his eyes on for a long time.

One of the players he offered was Brian Asamoah, one of the Buckeye State's top 2018 prospects. Asamoah spoke with Cats Illustrated shortly after learning of Kentucky's offer.

Grounded.

That's one way to describe Asamoah, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect listed as an athlete by Rivals.com.

Michigan, Penn State and UCLA are just some of the big-name programs that have already offered the high three-star prospect. But Asamoah doesn't sound like a recruit who has grown bored of the process. He's still taking everything in and doing so with an open mind.

"In the spring I'm taking the time to visit all of the schools that have reached out and offered me," Asamoah told Cats Illustrated. "I'm not giving anybody the short end of the stick. I want to give everyone a fair chance. Kentucky's a school I'm trying to visit."

Asamoah has not scheduled a trip to Kentucky yet but if that visit does happen expect the UK staff to roll out the red carpet. He's that kind of talent.

"I've been talking to Kentucky but I didn't know they were that interested in me," Asamoah said. "I guess Coach (Vince) Marrow just scouted me, watched my film and had interest in me. That's why he offered.

"He told me he was impressed with my ability to tackle and how versatile I am. He likes my style of play and told me he liked the whole nine (yards)."

Marrow gave Asamoah an assignment to help him learn about Kentucky.

"I was excited about the Kentucky offer and when I was talking to Coach Marrow he gave me a little homework to do," Asamoah said. "He wanted me to look at somebody named Jordan Jones. I was ecstatic when they offered."

Asamoah seems serious about visiting the schools that have offered. He has already demonstrated a willingness to hit the road. Asamoah has been to Notre Dame, Ohio State, Indiana, Pitt, Penn State and Cincinnati in the past.

He's also not just looking for the best football program he can find.

"Football's good. The X's and O's and all that," he said. "But the number one priority for me is academics. That's the number one thing I look at. I want to major in business. My core will be in business but I don't know exactly what I want to do at this time, whether it's supply chain management, finance or marketing. I don't know that but I definitely know I'm going into business."
