Legacy from Lexington lands offer: "I've always been a fan"

One of the bigger recruiting news items to come out of a big Kentucky football weekend was a new offer that went out to a Class of 2020 legacy recruit from Lexington.

Walker Parks is the son of David Parks, a former Kentucky football player. His mother also attended UK. Now he's got the opportunity to do that himself.

Parks told Cats Illustrated that he had a great time on his unofficial visit to UK on Saturday. An academic presentation was a big part of the trip and there was the typical facility tour as well. Parks met with Eddie Gran and Mark Stoops, who let him know he has an offer from Kentucky, and that was followed with food and a trip to Rupp Arena for the UK-Florida basketball game.

"So a very good day for me and I enjoyed every second," Parks said.

Parks is listed as a 6-foot-5, 235-pound offensive lineman from Lexington Christian Academy and with two years of physical maturation and football development before college he figures to continue growing into his frame. That's one reason why Kentucky's coaches felt comfortable extending an early offer.

Kentucky's interest in Parks it not new.

"They have showed interest since last year when I was a freshman," he said. "Coach Hinshaw came to visit me at school and I've been to two junior days and two camps. Great relationships with the coaches and staff and great people."

Parks will likely see more offers come his way, so his family's history with Kentucky will be important to the Wildcats' chances.

"I’ve been going to games since I could remember and have always been a fan," he said.
