Lacey to Bama

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Five-star shooting guard Trevor Lacey gave Alabama coach Anthony Grant a signature commitment on Wednesday, when he announced he was signing with the Crimson Tide instead of Kentucky, Kansas and Auburn.
Lacey, a 6-foot-3 sharpshooter, chose the Tide during at press conference at the auditorium of his school, Butler High, on the last day of the spring signing period. He was Alabama's Mr. Basketball in leading the team to a state title his senior year.

Lacey would have been icing on the cake and a fifth five-star signee in Kentucky's No. 1-ranked recruiting class.
He would have added depth to a team that is expected to be among the favorites for the 2012 national title, but he also would have had to battle for playing time with top-line wing players Doron Lamb, Darius Miller and Mike Gilchrist and reserve shooting guards Jon Hood and Stacey Poole.
"I just wanted to wait it out as far as the team (Kentucky) had with three or
four pros on it," Lacey said. "I would've went in with a loaded team, and I want to
go and play. Alabama was the best fit for me."
Instead he'll join Grant's class at Alabama, which also includes four-star in-state prospect Levi Randolph.
