KNOX OUT: UK wing heading back to Lexington

USA U19 head coach John Calipari announced that Kevin Knox tweaked his hamstring and will be heading back to Lexington.

This will end Knox's stint in Colorado Springs trying out for the USA U19 Team. Knox made the initial cut and seemed like a lock to make the final roster, which will consist of 12 players.

Last summer Knox played for Team USA U16 team and helped lead the Americans to the gold medal. He averaged 11.2 points and 4.5 rebounds.

He also represented his country in 2015 where Team USA also won gold.

Here are John Calipari's tweets collectively (@UKCoachCalipari):

.@kevin_knox23, who really performed well this week, tweaked his hamstring. .@kevin_knox23 is going to be fine with some rest, but he and I talked and thought it was in his best interest not to push it. He's too important to our season to push it and aggravate it more. My suggestion was that he go back to Lexington to rest it and focus on class, which he is. But he was great this week at @usabasketball training camp. Proud of him.

Knox is expected to start for Kentucky next season at the three position and will be one of the youngest players in college basketball next season. He averaged 28.5 points and 11 rebounds per game.
