Kentuckys Hood suffers torn ACL

Kentucky junior basketball guard Jon Hood suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in a knee on Monday during a pickup game, the school announced in a release.
Hood, a 6-foot-7 guard from Madisonville, Ky., will have surgery once inflammation from the injury subsides, UK's release said.
There is no immediate timetable for his return to the court.
Hood appeared in 33 of 38 games for the Wildcats last season and averaged 0.8 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.
Hood also played as a true freshman at UK, meaning that he would be eligible to use a redshirt season and save a year of eligibility in 2011-12, should he use.
