On Thursday morning Kentucky's football staff offered the great grandson of former Wildcat coach and college football legend Bear Bryant.

Paul Tyson comes from an impressive family tree. His great grandfather coached Kentucky's football program to its best seasons after World War II and then went on to become arguably the greatest coach in college football history on the basis of what he did at Alabama.

Tyson is currently a sophomore quarterback from Alabama.

His first offer was from Jacksonville State. Kentucky becomes the first SEC school, and the first FBS program, to offer him a scholarship.

In seven games for Birmingham (Ala.) Mountain Brook last year Tyson passed for 1,110 yards with nine touchdowns. He didn't throw any interceptions.

Tyson hasn't played varsity football beyond those seven games of work last season. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds.
