Kentucky leads for 2018 athlete from Georgia

Kentucky isn't the only Power Five school that has offered 2018 athlete Terell Smith, but the Wildcats are running ahead of the field.

Missouri is the other major conference (and SEC) school that has offered Smith, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound athlete from Snellville (Ga.) South Gwinnett.

Smith also has offers from Massachusetts and Tulane.

But for now it seems like the Wildcats are the heavy favorite.

"UK is number one right now over all my offers," Smith told Cats Illustrated shortly after the program's Sunday Night Lights Camp.

So how did the weekend visit and camp go for him?

"It was great. The new facilities (were impressive) and all the coaches were cool. Everything was brand new. The weight room was great. The locker room was even better," Smith explained.

"They (the coaches) all said I did a good job competing. I went both sides of the ball at wide receiver and cornerback and they are looking forward to me coming back," he added.

Smith is friends with 2018 Kentucky quarterback commitment Jarren Williams, who was also at the camp on Sunday.

"We're actually real close from high school football," Smith said. "We had went and hooked up twice (at the camp) when we were doing one-on-ones."

Vanderbilt is the only other school that Smith has camped at this summer, although he did tell Cats Illustrated that he will be visiting North Carolina with his friend and teammate Malik Robinson, the three-star linebacker who was also at Kentucky on Sunday.

Smith said that Kentucky is not only his top school, but the one that is recruiting him the hardest.
