According to records available to the public Kentucky basketball player Derek Willis was arrested on Saturday night.
The arrest took place in Boone County.
Records, available to the public, list the offense as 'alcohol intoxication in a public place.'
A source first tipped Cats Illustrated off to the news on Sunday afternoon. That source said Willis was with a female, believed to be his girlfriend, at the time of his arrest. Willis' mother provided the bail required for Willis' release.
No further details were provided by either the source or the public arrest record.
In the 2015-16 season Willis, then a junior, averaged 7.7 points and four rebounds in nearly 19 minutes of game time per contest for the Wildcats. He figures to be a key contributor for Kentucky during the 2016-17 season as one of the program's few veterans.
