The Cats haven't slowed in their pursuit of the high three-star safety since he visited.
"I talk to Coach (Derrick) Ansley two or three times a week," Kelly-Powell told Cats Illustrated this week. "We're both trying to get me down. I was supposed to come down to the Florida game but my mom became ill."
Earlier this football season Kelly-Powell visited Notre Dame, Northwestern, Michigan State and Michigan. He will be at Ohio State on Saturday.
There's a chance he could be at UK even before Ohio State.
"My dad is trying to figure out if we're coming to Kentucky this Thursday," he said. "But that depends on my schooling and practice."
Kelly-Powell said all of the schools that he's visited this fall have been impressive. But he's not the kind of player that's wowed by the same usual things that players cite.
"I'm not looking for the best game day experience," he said. "I'm just looking to see how the coaches and players vibe."
The No. 8 player in Michigan also told Cats Illustrated that he hasn't played much this year. That's not due to injury or anything of that nature. Cass Tech is just far more loaded than the teams on their schedule, so he's only played a significant amount in three games.
"Our schedule hasn't deemed (it necessary) for our starters to play much on defense," he said. "We start the city playoffs this week and the state playoffs in two weeks. This is when we shorten the rotation and play ball."
