Junior college guard picks Cats

VINCENNES, Ind.-- It's been a rough last few weeks for Kentucky fans, but Mychal Mulder provided some good news on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Vincennes University shooting guard committed to Kentucky, becoming the fourth member of the class of 2015.

The four-star junior-college transfer joins high school seniors Skal Labissiere, Isaiah Briscoe and Charles Matthews in the class.
Known for his sharpshooting, Mulder averaged 15.7 points and 6.4 rebounds this season at Vincennes (33-2).
"I just thought at the end of the day, Kentucky, playing there was probably my best chance at continuing my career after college," Mulder said at his announcement. "I hope to play professionally one day, and I felt like that would probably be my best opportunity."
He provides some perimeter shooting for the Cats, as Mulder shot 46.3 percent from three-point range last year, leading the team with 88 threes.
UK's leading three-point shooter last year, Aaron Harrison, hit 59 treys, and the Cats' Tyler Ulis led UK at 43 percent.
Mulder becomes John Calipari's first JUCO commit since Eloy Vargas pledged for the Cats before the 2010-2011 season.
Mulder hopes to have a more successful UK career than Vargas, who averaged just seven minutes per game in two seasons at Kentucky.
Although Mulder is known for his deep shooting, he can also put it on the floor and finish at the rim.
Mulder has an impressive highlight reel of jaw-dropping jams.
"He's a legit 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard," Vincennes assistant coach Brian Davis said when Mulder was offered. "He really jumps out of the gym. There's videos of his dunking from high school and from here. He's really athletic and shoots the ball well. Really good pull up game. He needs to get about 10-15 pounds of strength at the next level. He's a very high-character guy, yes sir and no sir, good student and no off the court issues.
Mulder will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Kentucky is still in on Jaylen Brown, Cheick Diallo, plus Thon Maker and Jamal Murray if those two reclassify to the class of 2015.
Mulder picked the Cats over Creighton, Indiana and Wichita State.
