How UK football commitments fared: Week 9

Landon Foster made an MVP punt that pinned his opponent near its own goal line and set up a winning safety, Zack Blaylock ran back another interception for a touchdown and Demarcus Sweat took another punt return to the house.
Patrick Towles was his statistically remarkable self in another Highlands rout - passing for five more touchdowns. He now has 30 TD tosses versus only one interception this season.

They were standout performers among Kentucky's 2012 football commitments in the games of last week.
Here is our weekly rundown of how all the future Cats fared ...
Darone Bailey, OL Clarksdale, Miss., Coahoma C.C., 6-6, 315. Last week: Did not play in 29-13 loss to Northeast Mississippi CC and is out for the season after tearing anterior cruciate knee ligament on Sept. 8 and undergoing surgery on Oct. 12 . Team is 0-7. Next game: At Mississippi Gulf Coast CC, Saturday.
Daron Blaylock, DB, Marietta, Ga., Walton, 6-0, 218. Last week: Had eight tackles in Walton's 38-3 victory over Cherokee and leads the team with 47 for the Raiders (7-0). Next game: Vs. Wheeler, Friday.
Shawn Blaylock, DB, Stone Mountain, Ga, Stephenson, 6-0, 179. Last week: Blaylock had what he described as a "shutdown game" with an interception, three pass breakups and five tackles, helping Stephenson defeat Langston Hughes 46-0 and improve to 7-0. Next game: Vs. East Coweta, Friday.
Zack Blaylock, DB, Marietta, Ga., Walton, 5-11, 185. Last week: Scored two touchdowns in a 38-3 win over Cherokee, one receiving and one on a interception return. His 86-yard interception return was his second pick-six in as many games and third of the season. He has a team-high five INTs in all. He had three receptions for a team-high 61 yards against Cherokee, including a 48-yard score. Blaylock added four tackles on defense and now has 41 on the season, trailing only his twin, Daron, for most on the team. Zack Blaylock's 222 yards and three TDs receiving also lead the Raiders (7-0).Next game: Vs. Wheeler, Friday.
Thomas Chapman, DT, Louisville, Ky, DuPont Manual, 6-4, 290. Last week: Chapman had six tackles and a fumble recovery in the Crimson' 21-14 loss to St. Xavier. His 37 tackles this season are second-most for the Crimsons (6-2), who face rival Male at Louisville's Papa John's Cardinal Stadium at 4 p.m. Saturday. Next game: Vs. Male, Saturday.
Landon Foster, K/P Franklin, Tenn., Independence, 6-2, 180. Last week: Foster had a game-changing play in helping Independence edge Franklin 5-3. Late in the game with the score tied at 3, Independence lined up in field-goal formation at Franklin's 40-yard line, but the play was a designed, surprise punt. The snap went wide and Foster had to scramble to retrieve back across midfield. He barely got the kick off under heavy pressure, and it rolled down to Franklin's 1-yard line. Franklin's ball-carrier was tackled in the end zone on the next play for the go-ahead safety. Foster also made a 20-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to make it 3-all. He had a standout punting game, placing three punts inside the 2-yard line and booming one kick 61 yards for a touchback. The victory clinched a share of the district title for Independence (7-1). Jacoby Glenn, DB, Prichard, Ala., Vigor, 6-1, 175, Last week: Vigor defeated Spanish Fort 7-0 to improve to (7-2). No indvidual stats available for Glenn, who has been limited by a groin injury. Next game: Vs. LeFlore, Friday.
Patrick Graffree, DT, Elizabethtown, Ky., Central Hardin, 6-4, 277. Last week: Injured an ankle in the first quarter of Central Hardin's 58-14 loss to Meade County. Graffree, who had one tackle for loss before the injury, said he expected to play on Senior Night on Friday. CHHS is 5-3. Next game: Vs. Nelson County, Friday.
Josh Harris, DB, Maysville, Ky., Mason County, 6-1, 200. Last week: Did not play in 24-14 loss to West Carter and is out for the season with a foot injury suffered on Sept. 2 against Rowan County. Mason County is 2-7. Next game: Vs. Fleming County, Friday.
T.J. Jones, OL, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Myrtle Beach, 6-5, 276. Last week: Jones' Seahawks (7-1) rolled past St. James 48-7. Next game: Vs. Georgetown, Friday.
Zach Myers, OL, Miamisburg, Ohio, Miamisburg, 6-4, 287. Miamisburg (2-6) had 221 total yards (160 rushing) in a 31-7 loss to Springboro. Myers, who plays both ways on the line, had two tackles on defense. Next game: At Troy, Friday.
Langston Newton, DE, Carmel, Ind., Carmel 6-5, 240. Last week: With his team trailing 10-0, Newton blocked a punt early in the second half that led to Carmel's first touchdown drive in a 20-10 comeback win over Ben Davis. Newton also had a sack for Carmel (8-1), which wrapped up the regular season and enters sectional playoff play on Friday. Next game: Vs. Perry Meridian, Friday.
Jonathan Reed, DB, Indianapolis, Pike, 5-10, 178. Last week: Pike (4-5) shut out Franklin Central 50-0 to finish the regular season in tune up for sectionals. Next game: At Decatur Central, Friday.
Daniel Ross, DE, Jeffersontown, Ky., Jeffersontown, 6-5, 280. Last week: Had two tackles as J'town rolled past Grayson County 40-0 and improved to 6-2. Next game: Vs. Iroquois, Friday.
DeMarcus Sweat, WR, Stone Mountain, Ga., Stephenson, 6-2, 185. Last week: Sweat's extra-special special teams play this season continued with a 55-yard punt-return touchdown. He now has five kick-return TDs (three on punts, two on kickoffs) and two receiving TDs for Stephenson (7-0). He also returned a kickoff for a TD in a preseason scrimmage. Next game: Vs. East Coweta, Friday.
Jordan Swindle, OL, St. Johns, Fla., Creekside, 6-8, 308. Last week: No game. Next game: Vs. Matanzas, Friday.
Kadeem Thomas, LB, Tallahassee, Fla., Godby, 6-0, 230. Last week: Made eight tackles as Godby rolled past Chiles 54-7 and moved to 6-0. He now has a team-high 64 tackles - 24 more than the player with the second-most. Next game: At Suwannee, Friday.
Shadrach Thornton, RB, Hindsville, Ga., Liberty County, 6-1, 207. Last week: Thornton struggled in a 47-6 loss to Ware County, carrying 20 times for 71 yards two fumbles. He also was intercepted twice among his six passes. Liberty County is 2-5. Next game: Vs. Wayne County, Friday.
Fred Tiller, DB/WR, Homerville, Ga., Clinch County, 6-1, 178. Last week: Tiller caught five passes for 54 yards and made six tackles on defense to help Clinch Count beat Lanier County 22-0 and improve to 5-2. Next game: At Telfair County, Friday.
Jon Toth, OL, Indianapolis, Brebeuf Jesuit Prep, 6-5, 290. Last week: Brebeuf (4-5) beat Fort Wayne Concordia 62-14 in preparation for this week's sectionals. No individual stats available for Toth. Next game: At Tri-West, Friday.
Patrick Towles, QB, Fort Thomas, Ky., Highlands, 6-5, 232. Last week: Towles and Highlands made short work of Holmes in a 77-0 rout. Towles played only a half but completed 14 of 15 passes for 361 yards and five touchdowns. UK walk-on commitment Austin Sheehan had three receptions for 131 yards and a TD and returned a punt 35 yards for another score. Highlands is now 8-0. Next game: At Cincinnati Elder, Friday.
Jordan Watson, OL, Fayetteville, Ga., Whitewater, 6-4, 285. Last week: Whitewater (7-1) won its seventh straight game, beating McIntosh 38-3. No individual stats for Watson were available. Next game: At Northgate, Oct. 28.
