Tony Dixon
No. 28
Senior Running Back
Parrish (Ala.) High School
TCP: What's the story behind your jersey number, if any?
TD: There really isn't one. When I got here, I wanted No. 4. I had been No. 4 all my life and No. 4 ran in my family, but it was already taken, so it really didn't matter to me after that. They just gave me No. 28. I guess now that's going to be the family tradition.
TCP: If you weren't playing college football, in which other sport would you have liked to be a star?
TD: Definitely baseball. I love baseball, and they paid a lot in the major leagues. (Laughs) You don't have to get hit, you just go out there and play. I pitched and played centerfield in high school. I wasn't too bad. I had a good batting average, and of course, I had the speed, so I stole a bunch of bases.
TCP: Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
TD: Growing up in Alabama, it's all about football, and I always liked watching the great running backs – Bo Jackson, Walter Payton. Nowadays, it would be LaDainian Tomlinson. I'm kind of built like him, so I really admire the way he runs.
TCP: Excluding the games that you've played in, what's your all-time favorite sporting event?
TD: When I came on my official visit, Kentucky played Arkansas in that game that went to seven overtimes. Even though we didn't win, that was a really fun game. It was wild. People were standing up all night waiting to see what would happen next, and both teams just kept matching each other. I loved it.
TCP: Which of your teammates' abilities do you admire the most?
TD: It's got to be Myron Pryor. He's 300 pounds and he runs a 4.8 forty. People don't realize how fast that is. It's blazing for somebody 300 pounds. He's so quick off his feet. He's just an all-around great athlete. He amazes me.
TCP: Were you a little bit worried that 4.8 would hold up over 70 yards on his fumble return against Louisville?
TD: (Laughs) I just knew he wouldn't let that Louisville lineman catch him. No way. He wanted that touchdown too bad. I loved it.
TCP: What is your ideal meal?
TD: A home-cooked Sunday meal that I grew up on – chicken, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and a nice dessert. Red velvet cake is my favorite dessert.
TCP: If you could have any three people, living or past, come to your dinner party, who would you invite?
TD: First of all, I gotta invite Halle Berry. She's my favorite. Walter Payton would be next, an amazing running back. And Bill Clinton. I think it would be interesting to hear him talk about being the president and everything that went on back then.
TCP: If you could go back in time and see or take part in any historical event, what would you choose?
TD: Well, it's not a good thing, but I think I would like to know what it was like in New York during 9/11. To see that in person would have been devastating, but it's a big part of history now, and just to see how everybody came together and worked to help each other, I think that would have been inspiring.
TCP: Let's say you're stranded somewhere and you've only got one mix CD left. It's the last one you'll be able to listen to for a long time. What are the main three songs on it?
TD: They'd have to be Li'l Wayne. I'd pick "I Can't Believe It" as one. The next would be "Mike Tyson Flow." I can't think of the name of the other one, so I'll go with Usher, "Love In This Club."
TCP: What's your all-time most annoying song?
TD: I don't know who sings it, but that one called "Baby I Got Your Money."
TCP: What's your dream vacation spot?
TD: Definitely Hawaii or the Bahamas. A beach with some beautiful water and a nice, cool breeze.
TCP: What's your favorite TV show or character?
TD: Martin Lawrence or Jamie Foxx, either one of their shows.
TCP: Who was your favorite cartoon character growing up?
TD: Bugs Bunny, by far. Kid cracks me up. Love Bugs.
TCP: You wouldn't catch me dead doing…
TD: Skydiving. I'd have a heart attack on the way down. (Laughs)
TCP: When I'm not playing football, I enjoy…
TD: Playing PlayStation 3... That's what I do with my free time. Call of Duty 4 is my favorite game. I love playing that online against other people. I'm pretty good at it.
TCP: After football, I'd like to be…
TD: A successful businessman with a nice home and family. Just to be happy and peaceful.
