Enoch Smith, Jr., was on Michigan State's football team until recently. Originally the plan was for Smith to start attending a junior college upon his departure from East Lansing, but now he will bypass that route, choosing instead to study close to home while getting ready for his next stop.

Kentucky became the first school to offer Smith a scholarship and to date the Cats remain Smith's only offer.

He told Cats Illustrated this week that he will officially visit Kentucky at some point but he has not decided on a date yet.

In fact, the pending official visit to Kentucky is the only such trip that Smith is sure he will take.

"That's my only offer and visit as of this moment," he told Cats Illustrated late this week.

Smith was a four-star defensive line recruit from the Class of 2014 when he signed with Michigan State. He was ranked the No. 20 defensive tackle in the nation coming out of Chicago (Ill.) Mt. Carmel and in addition to Michigan State he also had offers from Arizona, NC State, Notre Dame, Tennessee and a host of other Power Five schools.

Smith redshirted his true freshman season at Michigan State in 2014. Last year as a redshirt freshman in 2015 he saw action for the Spartans against Air Force, Maryland and Penn State.

He was slated to be a backup for the Spartans on the defensive line in 2016. The official Michigan State athletics website last listed Smith at 6-foot-2 and 293 pounds.
