Florida defensive end plans UK visit

First the new and revamped coaching staff under Mark Stoops evaluated a host of players in Florida. Then they sent out their offers.

The offers are still going out, but the next big phase for UK's push in Florida is convincing many of those players to visit.

K'Jakyre Daley is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound defensive end from Riviera Beach (Fla.) Suncoast and he had a monster season in 2016. Daley was credited with 76 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and two forced fumbles.

He told Cats Illustrated late Thursday that he's up to nine offers altogether, with his most recent coming from Kentucky.

Daley said he spoke with Eddie Gran and one other coach from Kentucky at the time of the offer.

"They said they love my explosiveness," Daley said. "They said they liked my motor and they said I would be a great player on their team who could help make them a lot better."

Daley said Gran had not yet visited his school but that doesn't mean Kentucky is a total newcomer to his recruitment.

"I've been following Kentucky for a while," he continued. "They've been sending me mail for a while. They've been interested so I've been paying attention to them."

Paying attention to Kentucky is one thing. But does Kentucky have a chance if he doesn't visit in the near future? Fortunately for the Cats, that might be a moot question.

"I'm going to take a visit (to Kentucky) probably during spring break," he said. "I believe i'll be for a practice."
