Five-star point guard ready to make choice

The speculation is over. Five-star point guard De'Aaron Fox will announce his college decision on Thursday.
Fox, the nation's No. 5 prospect in the country according to Rivals.com, has been one of John Calipari's top recruiting targets for many months.
As recently as earlier on Monday there were questions as to when Fox would be ready to announce his college destination. Speculation has long been that Fox has been ready to shut it down and make his decision public. That same speculation has generally put Kentucky in a good place.

Fox's decision will be closely watched by Calipari and the Kentucky staff. They're surely privy to more information than almost anyone else, and all signs are they feel confident about where they stand with the Katy (Tex.) Cypress Lakes guard.
The Houston Hoops AAU player is the nation's second-ranked point guard prospect.
He announced the details of his decision via his Twitter account.
I will be announcing my college decision Thursday live on @ESPNU @ 6 ET!!!- De'Aaron Fox (@Swipathefox5) November 9, 2015
Fox has taken official visits to Kentucky, Louisville, LSU and Kansas. If the Wildcats are to have any chance at unseating Duke from the top spot in the 2016 basketball recruiting rankings then they'll need Fox to say yes on Thursday.
Earlier on Monday Rivals.com hoops recruiting analyst Eric Bossi reported that Fox was unsure of his announcement details as recently as Sunday. Bossi acknowledged widespread speculation in the recruiting world that has Kentucky pegged as the heavy front runner.
Also, Cats Illustrated hoops recruiting analyst T.J. Walker reported on Monday in the site's Insider Notes that a source close to UK's end of things had said people in the program were unsure of when Fox would likely be making a decision.

At the time, Walker also indicated that he expected Fox to announce his decision on ESPN sometime this week. True to form that's presently the plan.
Kentucky already has commitments from Class of 2016 basketball prospects Wenyen Gabriel and Sacha Killeya-Jones. Both are considered five-star prospects by Rivals.com.
Along with five-star guard Malik Monk and five-star forward Jarrett Allen, among some others, Fox is one of the Cats' top remaining targets. He may be the most important left on the board with the need for an elite guard and perhaps a replacement for sophomore point guard Tyler Ulis, who Calipari believes will be playing in the NBA at this time next year.
If Fox picks Kentucky he wouldn't be the last piece to the puzzle. But he would be an excellent complement to the five-star forwards, Gabriel and Killeya-Jones, who will benefit from a dynamic guard like Fox who can break a defense down and create scoring opportunities for others.
Furthermore, if Fox picks Kentucky it would mark the eighth straight year the Wildcats had locked up a top five national talent. Skal Labissiere (2015), Karl-Anthony Townes (2014), Julius Randle (2013), Andrew Harrison (2013), Nerlens Noel (2012), Anthony Davis (2011), Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (2011), Marquis Teague (2011), Enes Kanter (2010), John Wall (2009) and Demarcus Cousins (2009) are the players ranked in the top five of the Rivals150 that Calipari has signed since arriving in Lexington.
Fox has the same national ranking, No. 5, as Harrison and Teague. He would be Calipari's highest-ranked guard recruit since Harrison.
