Defensive tackle from Georgia says Cats "would be up there"

McDonough (Ga.) Henry County defensive tackle Jahmal Wynter has a Power Five offer and he's hoping to add another from Kentucky.

The 6-foot-2, 270-pound lineman seemed very excited about the Cats after Sunday Night Lights in Lexington.

Wynter has an offer from Oregon State and he was clearly hoping for one from Kentucky when he showed up over the weekend.

"It was really good. I liked the atmosphere of the camp," Wynter told Cats Illustrated. "Coach (Jimmy Brumbaugh) broke everything down for me as far as my hands, my technique and what I need to do better in everything. All in all it was a really good camp."

Brumbaugh made a positive impression on the Peach State big man.

"He's good," Wynter said. "He has good energy. He'll work with you. Whatever he sees wrong, he's going to go back over it and get you right."

It was Wynter's first time visiting Kentucky. This trip was all about the camp, but Wynter told Cats Illustrated that he will be scheduling a follow-up trip to Lexington so he can view the campus and tour around a little more.

Overall he said his time at UK was "really nice," and he cited the facilities as one of the most impressive parts of the trip.

"It's better than I had imagined it would be," he added. "I've got a lot of interest in them. Kentucky would be up there as one of my top schools."

Wynter said he does have some other schools in mind but he's "not 100-percent sure on that," so he declined to name favorites besides Kentucky.
