Daniel joins Florida native Jason Strowbridge as a defensive lineman committed to UK, and his pledge pushes the Wildcats' class up to No. 20 in the national rankings.
"Just the coaching staff, the atmosphere -- I loved it there," Daniel told Bleacher Report. "Coach (D.J.) Eliot, Coach (Jimmy) Brumbaugh, Coach (Mark) Stoops, they're all great guys. They have players that I know there. I see the system, I see the program that they're running. I see that it's gonna be something special."
His commitment is not altogether surprising. Kentucky has been the rumored favorite for months now, since at least his unofficial visit to Kentucky over the summer. On that visit Daniel, who wants to major in something related to medicine, was present in the hospital during an open heart surgery.
That wasn't the only bizarre twist in Daniels' recruitment as it related to Kentucky. He took his official visit to Lexington the weekend of the South Carolina game. There, he and all the other recruits present watched former Kentucky football player Brad Durham fall from the upper deck in Commonwealth Stadium.
That shook Daniel up but he enjoyed the visit. That weekend he spent plenty of time with Kendall Randolph, a fellow former resident of Tallahassee, Fla. And he spent time with star defensive player Bud Dupree.
