DECISION FRIDAY: Quickley set to announce

Five-star point guard Immanuel Quickley will announce his college decision at 6 p.m. on Friday.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Bel Air, Md., native is deciding between Kentucky, Kansas and Miami (Fla.), although Quickley never officially visited Miami because of Hurricane Irma.

The Jayhawks visited Quickley on Thursday, but Kentucky is perceived the leader and has been for months.

Quickley has had a long history with Kentucky and has been recruited by the Wildcats for nearly two years. He officially visited the Cats last weekend although he's no stranger to John Calipari.

The No. 10 player in the class was invited and made the USA U19 FIBA World Cup team that was coached by Calipari this summer.

Quickley started all seven games for Calipari's USA squad. He averaged 6.7 points, 2.4 assists and 1.7 assists per game. He shot 42 percent from three and didn't miss a free throw in seven games (6-of-6).

“I think right now, Kentucky is definitely a favorite,” Quickley said back in June. “They’re getting an advantage because I’m getting to know coach Calipari pretty well right now."

Quickley officially visited Kentucky and Kansas, although the Cats have always been considered the leader.

He played on the adidas AAU circuit for Team BBC, who will be retiring his No. 3 jersey. Quickley averaged 9.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game. His assists and steal averages were second best in the adidas Gauntlet.

Kentucky has zero 2018 commitments, although Quickley has spoken highly about the Cats to other 2018 recruits. If UK were to land a commitment on Friday he will likely be an important recruiter for Kentucky.
