COMMITMENT: Linebacker Xavier Peters picks UK over many others

Kentucky and ace recruiter Vince Marrow pulled off a major recruiting victory today when prized Class of 2018 linebacker Xavier Peters picked the program, turning down many offers from nationally-prominent programs.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound linebacker is just the latest in an impressive line of Kentucky football commitments this summer.

Over the course of his recruitment Peters had also landed offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia Tech and many others.

Peters has visited other schools and has entertained the interest of many of those prominent programs, but he has always been viewed as a heavy Kentucky lean according to CatsIllustrated.com sources. CatsIllustrated.com first uncovered Kentucky's interest in the high three-star West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West linebacker many months ago, when Peters was a relatively unknown prospect, but an elite athlete, at Lakota West.

Lakota West has been very good to Kentucky during the Mark Stoops era, with Vince Marrow winning over many players at the school. That list would include George Asafo-Adjei, Kyle Meadows, Kayaune Ross and others.

Peters is the teammate of fellow Class of 2018 commit Tyler Bentley, a defensive lineman who considered offers from Florida and others before committing to Kentucky.

Stay tuned as CatsIllustrated.com provides a lot more analysis following Peters' big decision.
