COMMITMENT: Cats land 2019 linebacker from Georgia

Late Sunday evening Cats Illustrated first reported that Kentucky was on the verge of a commitment from a Class of 2019 prospect.

Then Kadarius McDaniel made it official.

The three-star linebacker called Cats Illustrated and informed the site of his commitment to Kentucky.

McDaniel, who goes by "K.D.", is a three-star (5.6 Rivals Rating) outside linebacker from Tifton (Ga.) Tift County with early offers from South Carolina, UCF, USF and others, in addition to Kentucky. He's ranked the No. 63 prospect in Georgia according to Rivals.com.

When Cats Illustrated caught up with McDaniel on Sunday night following his trip to Kentucky for a junior day on Saturday, he didn't leave anything a mystery.

"The trip went so great," McDaniel told Cats Illustrated. "I had built up a relationship with all the defensive coaches to where I have a trust with them. They told me how it was down there and then they showed me and told me how it's going to be when I get there. I know that I can trust them. It seemed like I can trust them. They're good coaches.

"I'm actually about to commit."

At the time, McDaniel told Cats Illustrated that all that he had to do before his commitment became official was to talk things over with his mother. But it seems like he already had basically gotten the go-ahead based on how things had gone this weekend.

Before committing to Kentucky, McDaniel posted on Twitter, "Where I'm about to commit is 100% where I wanna be and further my education," including, among other things, the hashtag #NoDecommits.

Defensive coordinator Matt House is McDaniel's lead recruiter from Kentucky but the three-star prospect told Cats Illustrated that the staff made it a team effort recruiting him while he was in Lexington.

When asked if there were any other schools in play, McDaniel responded no.
