Cedrick Dort commits to Kentucky

Cedrick Dort has committed to Kentucky, giving the Wildcats yet another piece to the puzzle that is their 2017 recruiting class.

Dort announced his decision Tuesday afternoon on Twitter. Cats Illustrated had first predicted that Dort would select the Wildcats.

Although Dort is just ranked a two-star prospect by Rivals.com, the Kentucky coaches and those elsewhere seem to be very high on the West Palm Beach (Fla.) Dwyer cornerback.

Dort's list of finalists, prior to his Tuesday afternoon decision, was as follows: Kentucky, Wisconsin, Rutgers, South Florida, Wake Forest, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Purdue, Minnesota and Iowa State.

Dort visited Lexington along with his coach and 2018 teammate Kenih Lovely for the Cats' Sunday Night Lights camp. Cats Illustrated listed Dort as one of the top defensive performers at the event (read that here).

All of those schools had offered the 6-foot, 165-pound cornerback from Florida.

Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran and defensive backs coach Steven Clinkscale both had big roles in helping to secure Dort's commitment.

Dort is commitment No. 12 for the Wildcats in the Class of 2017.
