Calcaterra's visit plans still on

Weeks ago California receiver and hybrid Grant Calcaterra told Cats Illustrated he was planning a Midwestern tour that included a stop at Kentucky.

With the dates he mentioned now rapidly approaching, the trip is still on.

On Thursday night Calcaterra told Cats Illustrated that the Midwest tour is still on. He had originally planned to be at Kentucky on April 1, and the Cats will still have the chance to roll out the red carpet for him.

"I'm going to Notre Dame, Northwestern, Michigan, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma and Indiana," Calcaterra said. "With a few of the offers I've added I've eliminated some of the schools I was originally looking at and I've added some others."

Kentucky's contact was originally coming from tight ends coach Vince Marrow and recuriting assistant Josh Estes-Waugh. Even since the Cats' offer and the time Calcaterra set that visit to Lexington, he's been staying in contact with the staff.

"Coach Waugh and a few of their other coaches will message me on Twitter pretty frequently," Calcaterra said.

But one other school has probably been recruiting him the hardest.

"Oklahoma's probably coming after me the hardest. The other schools are all probably in a close second," he said.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound receiver/tight end from Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic is a three-star (5.7) prospect ranked the No. 40 athlete in the nation and the No. 40 player in California.
