Breaking down UK's new football offers (2/9)

National Signing Day passed two days ago but there's no slowing down for Kentucky's football coaches when it comes to recruiting.

New offers to the next round of UK targets are already going out.

Here are the players to receive the latest offers that went out from the football offices in Lexington.

Maryland produces more talent than fans in SEC country realize and Kentucky benefitted from that two recruiting classes ago when Good Counsel's Josh Paschal and Naasir Watkins signed with the Wildcats.

Hagerstown (Md.) Saint James School is a new school as far as Kentucky's recruiting efforts go, but the offer makes sense because John Metchie is one of the top wide receivers in the Mid-Atlantic region. He's a dynamic playmaker with a huge offer list that includes Michigan, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pitt, Maryland and others.

The interesting thing about Metchie's offer besides all that is it came from new Kentucky assistant coach Brad White, who will be heavily recruiting the east coach from the DMV to New Jersey.

"He mentioned that he's a new coach there and he's trying to bring in talent like me," Metchie told Cats Illustrated.

It was the first time Metchie had spoken with a Kentucky coach.

"Coach White called me and he talked about how Kentucky had a lot to offer me as a player and student and that the coaches liked what I can do with the ball in my hands and that's something they're excited about."

Douse's first SEC offer is from Kentucky and that's noteworthy. Previously he had received FCS offers and one from Central Florida. Don't be surprised if his recruitment really picks up in the near future. Douse has good length and the ability to set the edge.

Although Jack Sawyer is only still a high school freshman he's already becoming regarded as one of the top young players in Ohio. Vince Marrow usually has a great feel for who the next big thing is on the ground in the Buckeye State and Pickerington is a city he has recruited heavily before. Already 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, Sawyer has the potential to develop into an imposing target and a mismatch in the passing game.
